Job Title: Clinical Director of the Mental Health Program

 

Supervised by: Executive Director

 

Supervises: Adult Outpatient Therapists/Counselors, supervision of night/weekend crisis workers on a rotating basis.

 

Employment Status: Full time, Exempt

 

Hours: Scheduled to work 37.5- 40 hours per week at IHR. Available for clinical consultation at all times.

Shared night/weekend crisis supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Minimum, Masters Degree in Social Science and Clinical License.

 

EXPERIENCE: Five years clinical experience. Prefer experience with outpatient mental health, substance abuse, and chronic mental illness. Two years of supervisory experience are required.

 

SKILLS:        

-Must be able to develop a therapeutic relationship with clients

  • Must be able to plan, develop, and monitor programs
  • Must be able to train staff
  • Must be able to successfully supervise staff
  • Must be able to integrate knowledge from many theory bases and apply to specific situations and is able to clearly communicate this knowledge.
  • Must be able to evaluate client’s clinical level of need and direct the appropriate level of intervention.
  • Must be a” qualified examiner” as defined in the Illinois Mental Health Code
  • Must be familiar with psychotropic medications and their side effects.
  • Must be an LPHA in Illinois
  • Must be able maintain professional relationships with other agencies in the community

 

OTHER:

  • Must have access to a phone; must own a dependable vehicle which is insured; must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.

 

 

A. Clinical and Administrative Responsibilities

 

  1. Plan, develop, schedule, and implement Policies and Procedures to Clinical program. Assist the Executive Director of IHR in duties assigned. Will be a part of and participate in the Executive Staffing.

 

  1. Plan, implement, and train all staff on billing codes, new assessments, changes in DHS/HFS policies and procedures, and support all staff during transitions. Collaborate with staff on progress notes and other documentation needs. Direct and teach staff during changes and transitions in regard to our assessment and treatment planning tools, progress notes, providing evidenced based service, and client-centered treatment.

 

  1. Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate clinical staff and interns

 

  1. Plan for program expansion or retrenchment and set program and staff objectives to meet the overall strategic goal. Work to expand our presence and services in the community and with our stake holders. Create programming/groups/resources that fit the needs of the clients in our community.

 

  1. Provide outpatient therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups, being sensitive to the diverse needs of various clients.

 

  1. Responsible for assessing and treatment planning with a variety of clients, as well as completing psychiatric referrals.

 

  1. Provide clinical supervision and/or consultation for agency outpatient therapists, case managers, CSS specialists, PSR specialists, and psychiatric staff (in conjunction with medical director). Has the ability to provide clinical consultation to any member of the clinical staff at any time on an as needed basis.

 

  1. Consult and make appropriate referrals with various community agencies on behalf of a client as needed. Collaborate and communicate with outside referral sources.

 

  1. Display an ability to adapt with various clientele and issues.

 

  1. Maintain client records in accordance with Illinois regulators, CARF standards, DCFS standards, various insurances, 708, and IHR standards.

 

  1. Contact notes for all billable services need to be completed within one week from the time of service.

 

  1. Must show strong, assertive, and fair leadership skills. Maintain positive, effective, and professional relationships with supervisees and other program staff.

 

  1. Must be competent in using various computer programs.

 

  1. Willingness to be on community committees, attend meetings, and be engaged with others in and outside the agency.

 

  1. Will be a part of audits, quality and utilization reviews of documentation and paperwork, as well as set an example for proper agency practices/policies and procedures.

 

  1. Support Psych Rehab staff in completing tasks as assigned, such as teaching PSR groups, community support, and case management

 

  1. Complete staff performance evaluations and forward to the Executive Director. Monitor staff’s progress towards satisfactory billable goal/hours.

 

  1. Complete QA/UR requirements on a quarterly basis. Will collaborate with assigned staff to track referral numbers, trends, clients served in a variety of programs, and compile in to reports-quarterly and annually.

 

  1. Responsible for being night/weekend crisis supervisor on a rotating basis with assistance clinical director.

 

 

  1. SAFETY

 

1) Will work to ensure the safety of staff and clients.

 

2) Will cooperate with the Safety Committee in insuring a safe environment for staff and clients at IHR.

 

3) Will document any unusual incidents and forward to the attention of the Executive Director.

 

  1. TRAINING

 

  • Will ensure intra-agency training and cohesion building occurs at minimum of one day per year.

 

  • Assess staff skill level and training needs in comparison with client needs to promote better service to clients.

 

  • Will keep current in continuing education requirements for all licenses and certifications.

 

  1. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1) Maintain client records in accordance with Illinois regulators, CARF standards, DCFS standards, various insurances, 708 standards, and IHR standards.

 

2) Maintain Productivity per Job Description

Billable Hours per year

 

3) Follow all Policies and Procedures.

 

4) Support IHR’s goals and values.
