Our History

In June 1968, at a county election, the voters of Livingston County approved the mental health referendum on the first try by a vote of 5,331 yes ballots to 1,687 no ballots.
Planning began and the new Livingston County Mental Health Board hired its first director and organized the mental health center in February 1969.
By late 1973, IHR was established as the not-for-profit corporation you are familiar with today.
